Workforce burnout, rising community need, and limited resources place enormous pressure on those providing care.<\/p>\n<p>ORBIT exists to reinforce that system-by building skills, strengthening relationships, and creating spaces for learning, collaboration, and support. When professionals are prepared and connected, communities are safer and more resilient.<\/p>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/orbitcares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/AdobeStock_606473980-3.jpg\" alt=\"AdobeStock_606473980 3\" height=\"439\" width=\"387\" title=\"AdobeStock_606473980 3\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\"  target=\"_self\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tACCOMPLISHMENTS\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tPerson-Centered Intake\t<\/h3>\n<h5>\n\t\t\tLocal insight that reshaped statewide policy.\t<\/h5>\n\t<p>One of our most influential efforts began with CMHP leaders who saw promise in Treat First, an approach from New Mexico that emphasizes early therapeutic engagement. Inspired by its potential, they asked how Oregon might adapt the model.<\/p>\n<p>With support from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aocmhp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AOCMHP<\/a> and investment from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/oha\/pages\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oregon Health Authority<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rwjf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Wood Johnson Foundation<\/a>, we facilitated a statewide pilot-Rapid Engagement-helping providers test person-centered intake practices and learn from each other.<\/p>\n<p>The work led to significant revisions to Oregon&#8217;s Entry &amp; Assessment and Service Planning rules. These changes give providers greater flexibility to build early therapeutic alliances and respond to client needs.<\/p>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/orbitcares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/adult-man-in-blue-jacket-uses-safe-in-the-hotel-ro-2026-01-05-06-00-53-utc-1.png\" alt=\"adult-man-in-blue-jacket-uses-safe-in-the-hotel-ro-2026-01-05-06-00-53-utc 1\" height=\"439\" width=\"388\" title=\"adult-man-in-blue-jacket-uses-safe-in-the-hotel-ro-2026-01-05-06-00-53-utc 1\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\"  target=\"_self\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tACCOMPLISHMENTS\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tSafe Storage for Lethal Means\t<\/h3>\n<h5>\n\t\t\tA simple, scalable solution built from community insight.\t<\/h5>\n\t<p>When coalitions across Oregon identified safe firearm and medication storage as a major gap in suicide prevention, we partnered with them to build a practical system that matched regional realities.<\/p>\n<p>Communities shared that families wanted safe storage options but lacked affordable tools. Suicide prevention partners emphasized the need for a coordinated, low-barrier way to get these supplies into local hands.<\/p>\n<p>Through a partnership with Bi-Mart, we helped establish a statewide process for accessing free or low-cost gun locks and medication lockboxes. Communities can now request supplies quickly, distribute them through trusted local networks, and strengthen a culture of care and prevention.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative shows how community-identified needs-paired with responsive support and strong local partnerships-can create measurable, statewide impact.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Building skills, confidence, and connection across Oregon&#8217;s behavioral health workforce.
